Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an update on a rainwater harvesting project that is saving thousands of lives in Kenya.
A village pastor and orphanage manager named Festus reached out to me after seeing my "Alternate Water" video online. His village has no local water source; residents previously spent hours every day carrying 40-pound jugs of contaminated water from a valley miles away. This water often led to serious illnesses like cholera and dysentery.
Through extensive training sessions over WhatsApp, I helped Festus apply the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) standards to his village’s needs. By utilizing locally manufactured 10,000-liter poly tanks—which are significantly more affordable than those in the U.S.—we were able to build a gravity-powered system with no moving parts. Thanks to funding for materials from local donors and a Rotary club, the first system was installed in just three days and now provides 400 people with over three gallons of clean water daily.
I am working on getting photos of the systems and the community posted soon. If you would like to join our WhatsApp group to see videos or participate in our meetings, please let me know. There is no cost to join the chat, though please keep in mind the 11-hour time difference from California.
You can reach me directly or find the WhatsApp thread at 760-803-2881.
Best regards,
